2012 Annual Reception and Silent Auction

I am excited to announce that the NADP Annual Fundraising event was a wonderful success! The evening started off with time for food, socializing, and local music from Michael Murphy. Old friends and new were able to meet and connect through the movement. Supporters mingled and talked while bidding on the more than 60 silent auction items donated by generous local businesses and artists.

To kick off the program for the evening, Senator Danielle Conrad was honored for her continued work to abolish the death penalty in the Nebraska Legislature. Senator Conrad has been a strong and skilled spokeswoman during numerous debates on the floor and has worked tirelessly to make sure her colleagues have all of the facts on why the death penalty is a failed policy, that wastes limited resources and does nothing to make Nebraskans safer.

Finally, after our keynote speaker was unable to make it due to a death in her family, T. Marni Vos stepped in on short notice and gave a funny, thought-provoking, inspiring keynote address. The night inspired us to keep working hard toward abolition, because we can win in Nebraska!

If you are sad that you missed this year’s event, next year’s annual fundraiser will be held in Omaha and we hope you’ll make plans to join us. Since that is a whole year away, though, we want to tell you about a couple of events that are coming up in the next few weeks.
